Children's Book Author & Multi-Sensory Storyteller

Welcome!

I’m Gill and this is Leo.  I am the author of ‘Leo and the Lightning Dragons’, a children’s picture book illustrated by Gilli B and published by Fledgling Press. I wrote the book for my son Leo who suffered from Ohtahara Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy.

Fifty percent of children diagnosed with Ohtahara Syndrome do not live past their second birthday.

Leo survived until he was 6 1/2 years old, passing away in March 2022.

All royalties from the sales of the book are donated to Children’s Hospices Across Scotland, who supported our family throughout Leo’s life.

What I Do...

I am a Children's Picture Book Author and Multi-Sensory Storyteller.

I run inclusive storytelling sessions which are great fun for children of all abilities, with storytelling that engages the children throughout, sensory props which help bring the story to life, music, colouring in, drawing and crown making.

I work with primary schools and nurseries, libraries, festivals, book shops and community organisations and my events can be tailored to suit large or small groups.

Thanks to the Scottish Book Trust Live Literature School Residencies Programme, I am currently the Author in Residence at a school for children with Additional Support Needs, helping them to develop and share their own Multi-Sensory and personal stories.

My sessions are inclusive and suitable for children and adults with Additional Support Needs. I am able to sign Leo and the Lightning Dragons in Makaton and, as a Story Massage Programme Practitioner, I am able to incorporate Story Massage into my sessions should you wish.

To book a session, or just to get in touch, click here or feel free to use the chat button.

Schools, libraries, community groups, hospices etc all have the opportunity to apply for funding through the Scottish Book Trust Live Literature programme.
